O'Reilly badgered attorney with false
claim about Schiavo trial
Fox News host Bill O'Reilly repeatedly suggested
that his guest, attorney Michael Gross, was incorrect when Gross claimed that
witnesses other than Michael Schiavo had testified that Terri Schiavo would
not want to be kept alive in a persistent vegetative state. In fact, Judge
George W. Greer noted in a post-trial order from 2000 that in addition to
Michael Schiavo, his brother and sister-in-law also testified that Terri
Schiavo would not want to be kept alive.
Memo to CNN's Franken, Phillips:
Ex-Schiavo nurse's charges aren't new, and a judge dismissed her affidavit as
"incredible"
Anchor Kyra Phillips wrongly claimed on the March
23 edition of CNN's Live From... that Carla Sauer Iyer, a former nurse
for Terri Schiavo, came forward for "the first time" the previous day with
allegations that Terri's husband, Michael Schiavo, was a "threat" to her
caregivers. In addition, CNN national correspondent Bob Franken incorrectly
stated that no one had responded to Iyer's charges, then repeated other rumors
of abuse without offering support for his allegations.
Ignoring constitutional scholars,
CNN's John King claimed no one questions Congress' authority to intervene in
Schiavo case
In an interview with Sen. Arlen Specter (R-PA),
chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, about Congress' intervention to
let a federal court review the Terri Schiavo case, CNN senior White House
correspondent href="http://www.cnn.com/CNN/anchors_reporters/king.john.html">John King
assured Specter that "Congress has the authority [to intervene]. I don't think
anyone questions that." In fact, legal scholars from across the political
spectrum have questioned Congress' constitutional authority to pre-empt state
jurisdiction and intervene on behalf of one party in a particular case.
I am very honest, this is both good and bad, hopefully it'll make it easier and faster for you to decide if you like me. The meek shall inherit the earth. I'm constantly learning and trying to be better and help those around me better. I try not to be materialistic and egotistical. (But..) I'm self-sufficient, own my own house and car, and have my first BS degree. I'm very resourceful and adaptive. I'm very progressive. I wish everyone could be open-minded.
