Sail on Silver Girl...Your time has come to shine: Back update
Back pain, rough.
Pain pills are great though. I could definitely go Rush Limbaugh, if I had some good hookups in that department.
I usually try lying on a flat surface like linoleum or the floor and gently roll my back up, like doing a situp, but more of a roll, kinda stretching apart the vertebrae. Sometimes a get pops too, bonus. Then of course there's the fold arms on chest and have a friend bear hug from behind, gently lifting. Works very well if they know what they're doing, can get pops and very relaxed feel afterwords.
Also, I've heard certain massage techniques can fix a lot of back problems. Or maybe it's more of neck problems, because the muscles go all the way from top to bottom of back, properly relaxing the right muscles can correct the imbalance.
I need to do some more research for a presentation I'm doing, coincedently on massage. So, let's see here:
(research. research. research.)
Here's one, "
Need a Massage?"
Skimming article for techniques, let's see:
"Warm your hands by rubbing them together. Fix your shoulder in place and rotate your left arm along its axis, use the thumb and fingers of your right hand to create friction by rubbing the moving arm all the way up and down. Switch arms to repeat the massage. "
I'd say reaching one arm over chest to massage shoulder blades works well along with a variety of other self-massage and stretching. The web search wasn't too helpful for me to find info on massage techniques. It's really late and I'm tired anyway, better go before I get too delusional.
Let me know if you find links to more descriptive sites showing good techniques for massage.
