"Liberals rescue bad guys"
Human Rights Watch apparantly trying to investigate prison abuses in Iraq.
Some people apparantly don't like that.
I personally am with the founder's of our constitution on this one:
1) I figure everyone deserves a fair trial.
2) They should be treated as innocent until proven guilty. ie. no torture to get confessinos, etc.
So, I can't see
this guys perspective, quoting him (referring to HRW or liberals in general):
"Unfortunatly, they didn't read in the Geneva Convention the part that says, "no onecares if you beat around a bad guy a little bit who slits helpless people's throats--as long as you don't tear their limbs off." 'Nuff said."
They apparantly had a GREAT SUCCESS using this technique to find who the throat-slitter's were.
The thing is, this happens in the US also, then it comes out the perp was innocent and just had an aversion to torture which lead to the GREAT SUCCESS of a confession.
I remember Illinois in particular corrected a lot of these wrongful convictions.
From
this news story on righting wrongful convictions: Protess, an investigative journalism professor, proved that at least "One man out of seven (sent to death row) is proven innocent. I believe there are more."
It details the extent and horror of forced confessions of innocents who killed people, (until proven innocent and freed from death row anyway).
What do you think?
